Ready, Set, Go: Best Practices in Remote Interpreting with Evelyn Cervantes

***LIVE EVENT ACCESS ONLY***

With the COVID-19 pandemic, there is no denying that Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) has become a vital part of how people communicate across language barriers.  While there is hope that much of life will return to the way it was before the pandemic, it is clear that many of the changes are here to stay, including the need for interpreters to develop their ability to effectively perform in these remote modalities.

Join Evelyn Cervantes on June 16 to learn how to adapt to and succeed in remote interpreting, including what you need to know about:

  • Pros and Cons of remote interpreting
  • Some of the challenges faced when working remotely
  • Equipment requirements – hardware and connection
  • Multilingual web conferencing platforms including Zoom and others

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Evelyn resides in Costa Rica and is an accomplished conference interpreter and online interpreter instructor that has educated interpreters across North and South America to be able to work in simultaneous mode for remote settings. Evelyn graduated in 2002, from the University of Costa Rica, with a degree in Translations, and has been working as a dialogue (consecutive mode) and conference interpreter since that time - interpreting at high-level conferences for the governments of the last two Costa Rica administrations (Ministers and Vice-Presidents of the Republic). Evelyn is a Senior Quality Monitoring Specialist in charge of Quality Assurance for Stratus Video on video remote medical interpretation services and a dynamic, experienced instructor.
