Ethics in Practice - A Special Pan-Canadian Presentation

***LIVE EVENT ACCESS ONLY***

Join a special panel presentation that brings together leaders from 3 key organizations in Canada, all of which are instrumental in the provision of interpreting services in health care. We will focus our discussion on ethics and what ethics mean in practice. As interpreters know, there are established ethical guidelines and standards of practice (or rules) for our profession, but how are ethical guidelines observed, and how are standards applied when new and dynamic situations arise? Do we all understand and define “ethics” in the same way? As a profession that is in constant evolution, how do we adapt while maintaining the rules as we were instructed?

Ethics come alive in practice, because only in discussing and sharing our experiences can we better understand what it means to be an interpreter in the emotionally charged and shifting landscape of healthcare interpreting. Come ready with your questions, case studies, and other comments you may have. Our distinguished panel members will be sharing their insights and views on this important topic. Remember to maintain confidentiality at all times – so no sharing of any personal or identifiable data.
